I’m realizing more and more how much I hate being misunderstood. It bothers me more than most things.
When I write something, read a blog on tik tok, or share an idea, I have the idea in my head and the message I’m trying to portray. Then I find people interpreting the message in different ways and growing heated by it, trying to start an argument.
I posted a blog about Hustle Culture and how I believe it’s not a healthy mindset. I stated “If you enjoy the grind, then all power to ya, but it’s not for me.” Even so, someone commented saying “Stop trying to stop people from pursuing success and making money just because you don’t like it.”
There is no misinterpretation only unique interpretation.
Everyone sees the world and interprets it in their own unique way. I’m sure this person didn’t listen to the full blog and just picked out what they didn’t like. But please don’t put words in my mouth.
My opinions and perspectives are never black and white. I rarely say “This way is right, that way is wrong.” I try to see both sides of every perspective and I voice that in my blogs and why I believe what I do. That’s why being misunderstood feels so awful to me.
If you don’t agree with me, that’s ok – I don’t expect everyone to. If you don’t agree with me though, start a civil discussion with me, not an argument. My goal is to share my perspective and my hope is that people can hear it and at least consider it without feeling the need to argue.
I know this isn’t always going to happen – no matter what I say or how I say it, someone is going to interpret it in their own way. Just try to respond differently. If you don’t agree with me or someone else, choose compassion before anger. Have a discussion and be open to seeing an alternate perspective.
