“When the eyes fear, the hands do.” – Jessie Asya Kanzer, Don’t Just Sit There, DO NOTHING
Yesterday I wrote a blog about your ego getting in the way of your action. Today, as I was reading, I came across this quote that falls in line with my sentiment.
Doing something new can be terrifying. If you’re entering uncharted waters, with little to no past knowledge or experience, it can seem daunting. No matter what it is – a new business, new job, hobby, content strategy, asking someone out, etc. – the fear that comes with it can stop you in your tracks.
Don’t let fear prevent your inaction.
There’s another saying that goes says “Just do it scared.” and that’s what we all need to do sometimes. It doesn’t matter if you’re terrified or overwhelmed with what lies ahead, you need to do what needs to be done. If you want to be better, achieve your goals, and branch out of your comfort zone, then you have to be able to do things under any emotional state.
Fear comes from your ego saying you can’t, you’re no good, what’s the point, just stay as you are. But remember, your thoughts are not you. Fear is nothing but a temporary thought as the unknown presents itself. Just like everything else in this world, the feeling will pass.
There will never be a better time than right now to start, so start. Recognize the fear, but let the potential for a better life push you forward. You may fail, but you tried. You may succeed, then you’ll look back at laugh at how foolish your ego was.
If you’re scared, do it scared. You know what you have to do, so do it.
