Rain or Shine

I was waiting for the day where it rained when I had to do my outside workout. Today was that day and it shows just how disciplined you need to be to get what you want.

It was another long, busy Sunday at work. The last thing I wanted to do was go to the gym then for a walk. To top it al off, it started pouring as soon as I was about to go. I knew this day would come – the weather has been so nice the past 8 days of the challenge. So the discipline had to kick in and I had to make the choice to go anyway.

Luckily, the rain slowed to a gentle sprinkle by the time my walk started, so I didn’t end up soaked. As I was walking I was trying to consider how to apply this rain-or-shine mentality to more goals in life.

How can a person commit to putting in effort every single day, no matter what? With something like 75 Hard, it’s easy because you have your set of rules and a timeline for completion. With other long term goals, that’s not necessarily the case. So I’m wondering if making your goal a challenge would do it. Most of the time motivation isn’t enough to do something every day, so how can you make yoruself do it even when motivation is gone?

If you want something enough, you need to make the choice to move towards it as consistently as possible, if not every day. You need enough internal motivation to make progress, not worry about results, or any external validation. If you can’t stay consistent, you may not want it that badly.

Figure out your goals and what it’ll take to achieve them. Commit to doing something every day to move closer to the final result. Be so focused on what you want that nothing can get in your way of your consistency. Start small, do one thing a day, and don’t stop until you’ve reached your desired outcome.
