Acknowledge every bit of progress you notice in your life. No matter how insignificant you believe it is, every step forward is huge.
I may not feel perfect. I still have a lot of negative thoughts, questions, and unwanted desires surrounding this situation in my life. As much as these suck and I want them all gone, I’m not nearly as bad as I was.
I’ve noticed the incremental changes over the past couple days alone. The thoughts pop up less frequently, I more quickly think rationally and explain away the questions and hopes, and slowly but surely, I feel my value and self love growing. All the negative is still there, but the severity is dimishing.
It can be challenging to not be where you want to be and not feel whole like you once were. It sucks having those days where everything feels like shit and like you’ll never return to your best self. In these moments, noticing the progress you’ve made can be a game changer.
No matter the circumstance, you can always find something you’ve improved upon. The key is to not label them as small, insignificant, unnoticeable, etc. Any amount of progress is progress. That’s what matters.
I know it’s not always easy, but you’re getting there. With every day that passes, as long as you’re trying, you’re finding your way out of the weeds. Don’t be so hard on yourself, never criticize the speed you’re moving at. Be your own number one supporter. Encourage your own progress and reward yourself by acknowledging your improvement whenever you can.
You’re crushing it and you’re going to come out on top. Don’t stop trying. Keep pushing and keep improving.
