The lesson I keep going back to throughout 75 Hard is this: it doesn’t matter how you feel, you’re going to do the work. That’s been pretty powerful for me to experience and I hope I can keep the mentality after the challenge is done.
I did not sleep enough last night, so getting up for work was rough. Going to bed late, I also couldn’t walk before my shift, so when the end of my shift came, I was no hyped to do two workouts. All I wanted was to go home and lie down and look at my phone for the rest of the night.
Of course I went to the gym. I considered lifting lighter weights – fuck that. I considered doing fewer sets with longer rests – no shot. Maybe I can just not go to failure? Yeah right! Ok, but can my walk be cut short or at least slower? Dude, you know the answer.
It doesn’t fuckin matter how you feel, you’re putting in the work or you fail the challenge. It doesn’t matter if you’re tired, sad, busy, or sore. You do the work or you fail.
But what if you’re not doing 75 Hard? What’s going to motivate you to do the work no matter what? That’s all you buddy. You’re the only one who has the power to push yourself through and ignore your own excuses. Do you want this bad enough to overcome your fatigue or shitty mood? Only you can answer that.
Just because you don’t feel at the top of your game doesn’t mean you get to take it easy. Not if you’re trying to form discipline and healthy habits. You have to prove to yourself that you’re stronger than your emotions and your brain can’t talk you out of the hard work. You have to lift the heavy weights, even if you can’t hit your normal reps. You have to walk your normal distance or time. You have to work on your passion project. You have to do these things if they mean anything to you.
You know every day isn’t going to be best case scenario, so figure out how you’re going to get yourself to do the work when you’re at your lowest. Nothing can get in your way if it means enough to you.
