ETT with Paolo Paco – Medical School, Growing Up and Living with Morquio Type A, The Advantage of Empathy

January 8, 2021

Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry my audio quality sounds like trash. I accidentally recorded this interview through my webcam. Luckily I don’t talk too much because I’m not the important one here. We’re all here to listen to Paolo’s story. Paolo has a rare genetic disorder called Morquio Type A which is a disease similar to mine. I was hyped to speak with Paolo because it’s cool to hear how other people view their disease and manage it. So Paolo and I discuss growing up with Morquio, dealing with it through school, college, and life and general, and how it has created the person he is today. Paolo is currently going to medical school and in the process of “learning everything”. He’s not yet sure of where he’ll end up, but he’s got plenty of time. When he’s not swamped with schoolwork, he likes to invest his time into some rad hobbies like cooking, exercise, videogames, and reading. We hope you enjoy listening to a cool perspective on the world coming from someone who has had to overcome a lot in his life. Maybe Paolo can teach you or someone you know to have a more optimistic view of the world and realize you have the strength to overcome anything life throws at you.
