Asking The Right Questions

For being a three pound chunk of electrified meat, your brain is pretty incredible. One of the coolest abilities the brain has is the ability to find answers to your most pressing questions.

Whether you want it to or not, your subconscious mind finds answers to any question you give it. This is why it is so important to improve your thoughts and create a healthy internal dialogue.

In my own experience, when I’m feeling down, I start asking myself shit like, “What’s wrong with you?”. Guess what happens – my brain gives me answers. It comes up with shit that’s wrong with me! It tells me all my past mistakes and reasons why I’m in this current mindset.

On the flipside, when I’m feeling motivated and ready to focus on ETT, I ask myself “How can I inspire someone today?”, “What helpful story can I share?”, or “How can I get my content in front of more people?”. Much like before, my subconscious gives me answers.

When I find myself in a low energy state it can feel like there’s nothing I can do to unbury myself. The negative feedback loop of shitty thoughts wears me out when all I want to do is move and escape to higher ground.

In reality, there is something I can do – become aware of the questions I’m feeding my brain and try to switch them. If I can catch myself feeling down, catch myself asking questions that elicit negative responses, I can change my inner narrative.

Instead of “What’s wrong with me?”, I can ask “How can I work through this?”. Instead of focusing on the negative and asking “Why isn’t this working?” I can try “What can I do differently?” or “What has helped in the past?”

Your questions will be different from mine. The point is, whatever questions you choose to ask yourself will get answered. So if you want to be more positive, more focused, and more outcome oriented, start asking the right questions.
