What does it mean when you go through your day without learning any important lessons? Is there still something to be gained from living a day without self reflection and finding room for improvement?
I will admit, I’ve had a few days recently where blog ideas have been hard to come up with. I expected this to happen with such a large goal of writing a blog a day, but what will I do when if it continues?
With today’s reflection, I realized how beneficial it is to look back on the day you just had. When you take the time to reflect from a more objective perspective, you’re able to see where you could’ve done better, mistakes you made and can learn from, and what went well. There shouldn’t be any judgement when you do this, it should simply be a way to improve from this point on.
Not every day will show obvious lessons and that’s ok. It’s still wise to take some time to reflect. Some days it will feel like everything went well and you really didn’t make any poor choices – that’s good! Learn from days like this and see if you can replicate it in the future. Your day doesn’t have to be filled with fuck ups in order for you to improve yourself.
Journaling has always been helpful for me, although admittedly, I’ve fallen out of the habit of writing every night. Blogging of course has been a big focus and outlet for the lessons I’m learning each day. Talking with friends about things can also be a great way to get an outside perspective on your life. There are many ways to reflect and each leads to the same outcome of learning more about yourself and how you respond to the world.
So don’t expect every day to be perfect and don’t assume there aren’t lessons to be learned. Take a few minutes to run through your day in your mind and see what you could work on tomorrow. If you feel you acted productively, try to lock in on the actions and mindset you portrayed in those moments and replicate them. There’s always something to be learned, you simply have to look for it.
