Acknowledge Good Days

It’s easy to acknowledge your bad days, to dwell on them and wish they were over. Do you have the strength and self awareness to do the same with good days? If you feed into the negative, you have to give the same energy to the positive.

I’ve been feeling pretty awesome the past couple days. I can’t fully describe the feelings, but I’ve been feeling very connected to people, happy with work, energized, excited to finish 75 Hard, and simply enjoying my days. This hit me in the car the other day, windows down, music bumping, and I took a few moments to breathe into the emotions.

It made me realize how infrequently I make an effort to fully immerse myself in the feelings of my good days and good moments. On the other hand, when days are bad, I’m completely sucked into it. When bad days roll around, 90% of my thoughts are about how frustrating it is, my body is tense, breath shallow, motivation low, everything is off. So if I’m so willing to feed the negativity, why shouldn’t I be able to do the same with positivity?

I think when we experience those good days, we kind of just roll with it, but never take a moment to appreciate it. We understand things are going well, but our emotions are surface level – they’re there, but we don’t truly acknowledge them. When we feel good, we just act freely and the day passes by with ease. That’s all well and good, but I think we should try taking it a step further and really be in the moment.

When you notice this euphoric feeling, don’t simply brush it aside – you don’t do that with negative feelings. Take a moment and really feel it, breathe into it, sense it throughout your body. See what your thoughts are telling you and realize you have the power to have great days, not only bad ones.

Sometimes it may seem like every day is shitty, but sprinkled in there can still be these moments of peace and happiness. I think in order to experience more of these moments, you have to start acknowledging them when they arise. Like when you’re down, but you have a fun chat with a friend, when you cook something delicious, you lie down and relax, anything. It isn’t all bad, you may just be choosing to only see the bad.

Use some presence and self awareness to acknowledge the emotions you’re feeling. Try your best to cut off the negatives and when the positives arise, fully accept that everything isn’t that bad. Focus your energy on the good moments and soon you’ll find they’re around more often than you realized.
