Build your life slowly, just make sure you’re progressing. Resist the urge to compare your journey to others and burn yourself out.
It often feels as though I’m working too slowly. My coffee business is still in the early stages, my posting schedule is never consistent, my relationship building is still in it’s infancy, and so on.
While I want all of these things to grow and thrive, I don’t want to force anything or overwork myself. I do this by reminding myself of a few things: I have time, consistency is important, and I’m doing what I can manage at this stage of my life.
Yes, I could put in a lot more effort and hard work. I could be taking more steps towards my goals each day. I could stop hesitating and just accept I’ll make mistakes while also making progress. But right now, I feel like building consistency is more important to focus on than going fast.
The projects and goals I’m pursuing are important to me. All that I’m pursuing is something special that I want to become something amazing. Because of this, I don’t want to mess that up by working myself to death and growing a hatred for my passions.
You do not have to work fast. You do not have to go overboard in an attempt to accomplish something quickly. If you want something, go after it, but attack it with intention and at a pace you can manage.
There are a lot of responsibilities and circumstances that will make your life challenging and difficult to work around, so you have to slowly work the important things in. Do something every day, rework your routine, learn, and continue to increase effort and time as often as you can. When you feel ready to do more, do more.
Forget what the rest of the world is doing and what your family and friends think. These are your goals and your life, so take charge. Build your life slowly. As long as you’re trying to be better, it doesn’t matter how long it takes.
