Do What Feels Right

Do what feels right. You may find it wasn’t the best option, but that’s how you learn and grow.

I’m starting to grow bothered by all the self-improvement gurus, “entrepreneurs”, Millionaire Mindset quotes, and all these people telling others how to live their life. There are all these quotes saying “Do this” or “Do that.” and “You’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with”, etc.

I don’t know, it’s starting to rub me the wrong way. These people and quotes are making it seem like there’s only one way to live, one way to be successful, and if you stray from this path, you’ll never achieve anything.

That’s simply not true.

You’re perfectly capable of starting a successful business even if the people you hang out with all work 9-5 jobs and want nothing more. You can lose weight, gain muscle, and be healthy by forming your own routine and diet that works for you instead of following a script. What works for that person and makes them money doesn’t have to be what you do, unless you’d enjoy it.

No one knows what they’re doing. No one has all the answers. While they may have figured out the financials, they may be depressed or lonely. That person may be shredded, but when was the last time they pursued a hobby or passion? Someone can hang out with millionaire business owners all they want, but more often than not, it’s much more fun to have some beers with your buds.

My mentality is to go for what flows naturally, what feels right in the moment, and don’t stress so much about the outcome before it’s happened.

If I feel like working for hours on ETT all week, I do. If I feel like going out with friends, I do. If this week I want to focus more on coffee than the blog and podcast, I do and vice versa.

All the quotes and ideas of other successful people are in my noggin, but their advice isn’t the end all be all. I can take it into account when making decisions, but the best way to learn is to make your own choices and reflect on the results. How do you feel after doing *insert activity*? Do you have more energy after eating one thing over another? Does that side hustle motivate you and inspire you to work hard, or would you rather try something else?

Listen and read the ideas of others, but use your own gut, thoughts, and ideas to make the final decision. If it works out, keep going, if not, move forward and try again.
