On the first episode of the new year, I had the opportunity to meet Des aka Walkabout. A musician from Philadelphia, now living in LA, Des is living the retired life to the chagrin of all his friends. He’s been fortunate enough to be able to focus on his love of music practically full time while also helping his brother sell chocolate milk part time. Walkabout’s story began when he first felt the rush of being on stage at a dance, being in control of how the crowd felt and moved. From there he explored being a DJ, performing at parties and dances and making his own music at the same time. Eventually he posted a song on SoundCloud that kickstarted the journey to where he is now. We discuss a lot in this episode and towards the end you get a rare impromptu conversation about some hobbies of both of ours outside of the typical podcast discussion.
