Fear Is Not An Excuse

Something that scares me about creating content is the idea of people not finding meaning or enjoyment in it.

The goal in my writing, podcasts, and documentation of my process is to inspire others. My hope is for someone to read a blog and have it change their perspective, inspire them to try something new, or affirm they’re doing what’s best for them. When I interview talented creators, I want them to realize their art/music is worthy of recognition and their advice is helpful, even if they have a small following.

I recently realized that my fear is no reason not to post content. I realized that even if no one, or very few people are engaging with my content, I still want to post it.

I genuinely enjoy putting my thoughts into words on a screen and out of my head. I love interacting with artists and musicians from all over the world and hearing their stories. Recording myself and the journey I’m on is going to be an incredible series to look back on when I’m older.

This is why it’s so important to find what you truly love doing and to do it. If you love to paint, paint! If you love to make music, make it! If you can’t stand keeping your ideas in your head, write them down!

Release your creativity and passion. Share it all with the world. Not because you want recognition, but because you love it.

When you do this consistently, for a long enough period of time, people will find you and give you recognition. That will be an added bonus to doing what you love. You’ll be grateful for the interaction with your creations, but it won’t be the driving force to continue.

Your love of what you do will be the one and only motivator. So keep working and keep trying new things until you find what you love.
