Nothing’s Set in Stone

Nothing’s set in stone. The world around us is ever changing and you are too. Never be stuck in your ways or refuse to change your habits.

I’ve been strongly considering going back to eating animal products on a regular basis. For the past 3 years, I’ve been mostly vegan – cooking vegan meals but eating things like burgers and chicken when I’m out. It’s made me feel pretty good health wise and I never thought I’d go back to old ways. Recently though, I’ve been having this feeling of switching back and seeing how it affects me and my fitness journey.

I’m thinking of starting slowly – meal prepping one or two meat meals a week with the rest being vegan, then seeing how my body responds. Maybe it’ll make me feel great and I’ll see benefits in the gym. Maybe I’ll feel like garbage and want to stop. There’s no way to know without trying.

This makes me realize how much a person changes over the years. With all the things that happen in your life over the course of weeks and months, you slowly change your thoughts and perspectives on things. With that, you should try being open to altering your major habits like diet and exercise. You don’t want to be so stuck in your ways that you never try new things because without experimenting, you won’t know if you’re doing what’s best for you.

It’s all about working with the current version of yourself. This version of you is not the same person as the one that made the initial change. If you feel like trying something new, consider it, try it, and reevaluate. Just because you’ve done something for a long time doesn’t mean you have to continue.

We’re always changing and should always be trying to learn more about ourselves. It’s so important to focus your attention inward and see what you can be doing differently. It doesn’t matter what other people think, as long as you’re not affecting others. If your body is telling you something, listen to it.

You never have to be the same person you were 5 years ago, 5 months ago, 5 weeks ago, or even yesterday. You are free to make changes as often as you feel is necessary. Doing so makes life more interesting and leads you towards the best version of yourself. So try new habits and see what happens. You can always go back if you find they don’t add to your life.
