Relief of Freedom

It is so nice to be able to whatever I want with my days now that 75 Hard is over. The freedom to choose my routine is awesome, but it’s also a test.

We all reach a point in life when we make all our decisions for ourselves. We have to decide what we want our life to look lik, what our habits are, who we spend time with, where we live, how we spend our money, etc. Each of us has the freedom to do whatever we want every single day, but does that mean we should just say “fuck it” and be reckless?

Now that I don’t have to go to the gym, walk, read, not drink, or eat well, I can choose to live each day however I want. I can skip the gym, eat like shit, drink beer, and do anything I feel like. It’s only been a week of this, but it’s been such a relief knowing I can take it easy. However, this freedom is nothing but a test in my eyes. Simply because I can go off the walls with my habits doesn’t mean I should. Being able to make the choice every day is nothing but another test of discipline.

It’s easy to do the hard shit when there’s a challenge involved, but are you able to keep it up when every day is up in the air? When no one is watching you and you don’t have a challenge to complete, can you still find the motivation to do the hard shit? That’s the true test.

I’ve found joy in going to the gym consistently. I’ve realized how easy it is to cook my meals every day. Finding time to read is second nature. Now I know I have no need to turn to beer to cope with shitty days. The habits I formed over those 75 days made a big difference in my perspective and I genuinely want to keep them going. Even so, I glad I can go out for a beer with my friends or grab dinner with my family again.

So now that I can do whatever I want, I still want to stay healthy, but I’m not going to beat myself up when I cheat. With this freedom, I’m still choosing my health as a priority and staying consistent 90% of the time, which to me is more than enough.

What about you? Are you using your freedom to improve your life or are you choosing poor habits more often? Just because you can do whatever you want every day doesn’t mean you should life like shit. Find it in you to stay healthy, pursue hobbies and passions, read, eat well, and life a good life. Freedom is great and you should enjoy it, but don’t use it as an excuse to live poorly.
