That’s Not Very Amor Fati Of You

Remind yourself, it isn’t simply about dealing with what life throws at you, it’s about loving it all.

It was that time of day when I was alone at work and the inevitable rush of customers came. There was a battle between my desire to stay on top of it all and my inability to juggle more than one customer at a time. As usual, I grew a little frustrated… until my Stoic-in-training brain flipped on.

I quite literally reminded myself of the tattoo of my arm – Amor Fati, “Love of fate”. From there, I asked myself, “How can I not only deal with this but love it?”

The challenge life threw my way gave me the opportunity to practice my patience. The moment presented me with the chance to prove to myself and the higher ups that I can stay calm under pressure and perform my tasks accurately. I can use this instance as a learning experience and use it to better prepare for the next time it happens. That’s all pretty awesome if you ask me.

It’s tough to bear the weight of life’s obstacles. It’s harder to be grateful for and love them.

If you’d like to learn and grow, taking on this mindset may help immensely. Asking yourself “How can I feel love for this right now?” can be the difference between you making excuses and letting negative thoughts ruin your day or you holding yourself accountable and finding better ways to deal with the world.

If you ask me, I’d love to never be phased by anything life throws at me. It would be incredible to face every obstacle head on, with a calm mind, and a desire to overcome.

If you agree, try reminding yourself to love fate the next time you face adversity. You never know what you can learn when you start loving every single moment.
