It is ok to care. It’s ok to care about people, to care about the past and the future, to care about everything.
You’re allowed to care about your ex. You can wonder where they are, what they’re up to, if they ever think of you, and if they’re happy.
You’re allowed to care about the obstacles in your way. You can feel scared, confused, lost, or any other emotion. You can wonder how you’ll get through this and what it will mean for your future.
You are allowed to care. But you are not allowed to care too much. Never care so much that the thoughts eat away at your focus. Don’t care so much about your ex that you slowly fill with grief and loneliness. Obstacles that block your path are not meant to stop your progress.
You’re human and caring is natural. You will feel multitudes of emotions every day and you’ll think enumerable thoughts, but you cannot let them control your action or cause inaction. They are just thoughts, just emotions. If you connect to them and let them guide you, you lose control.
So care. Feel the emotions and think the thoughts. But never let them become your narrative. Live your life in the present and stay calm and rational through it all. Care, but don’t dwell on what can’t be changed.
