For Those Who Want More Followers

Creating content is difficult when you don’t have a lot of people tuning in.

Something I’ve asked myself a lot is “What would you do differently if you did have all those followers?” and the answer doesn’t change from what I’m posting now.

When we post on social media and share our thoughts, ideas, art, and music, we want people to like it. We want people to see it, read it, listen to it, and share it. When we’re first starting out though, that’s usually not the case.

We all start at zero. All those pages you follow with thousands or millions of followers all started with nothing.

You can wish for followers all you want, but if you’re not able to build your consistency now when no one is watching, how can you expect to do so when people are watching?

Would you really post more if you had more followers? Would you reply to all your DMs and comments with genuine appreciation?

If you don’t learn to consistently create content you enjoy when you have 100 followers, you won’t do it at one million.

If you don’t take the time to thank the one person who complimented you in your comments, you won’t appreciate the thousands of people praising you down the road.

If you don’t put in the work to find your voice, find your style, and find what makes you happy, a bunch of random followers won’t fix anything.

Having fewer followers is a blessing. Use this time to figure yourself out, form consistent habits, and try new things. As you do these things, people will find you and they’ll grow with you.

Followers and likes are a side effect of hard work. So do the work.
