You Don’t Have Enough Data

When you need to make a big life decision, but you’re not sure which direction to go, you need more data.

There’s a reason you don’t know what to do with your life. There’s a reason you don’t know what major to choose, don’t know what career to pick, don’t know what your passion is, don’t know a lot of shit you feel like you should know.

You don’t have enough data yet.

How can you expect to know what you want to study in college when you’ve never taken a college course?

How can you know where you want to work when you haven’t worked anywhere but Wegmans?

How do you expect to know what your passion is when you’ve never tried anything new?

You need more data.

Take a bunch of different classes. Shadow at any job you think you may enjoy. Try as many damn hobbies as you possibly can until something sticks. Read more. Watch more. Meet more people. Learn everything you can about who you are, what you love doing, and who you want to become.

Collect the data. Once you believe you have the data you need to make a decision, do it.

Your decision will either suit you well and you’ll feel amazing, or it will be an additional data point for your log.

Don’t stress over making tough decisions. If you don’t know the answer, you don’t have enough information. So go out and get it.
