You’re Not Stagnant

Sometimes it takes a random encounter with an old acquaintance to realize just how much you’ve changed.

You can live each day doing the same things you did the day before, following the same routine, working the same job, and interacting with the same people. You may look back and believe not much has changed in your life.

Then you run into someone you haven’t seen in years and they ask “What’s new with you?” and you’re left thinking about how you’re meant to condense so many years into one or two sentences.

The point is, you may not realize it, but small changes happen all the time and add up. So while you follow a similar routine each day, minute details change.

You start a new book, try a new food, meet a new friend, learn a new method for completing a task. The list goes on and on. Eventually, you discover that a lot has happened in a very short period of time.

So don’t believe you’re stagnant. While you may not be growing and changing at the rapid rate of a waterfall, you are moving along at least at the speed of a gentle stream. Always learning, always growing.
